Munchie Review #001- Mexican Street Corn Cheetos

I was pleasantly surprised to find these sitting on our local store shelf. At first sight I couldn't help but take notice of the creative approach for this new flavor. Never in a million years would I predict this to be the next Cheetos variant. I absolutely applaud the outside the box thinking. But how does it taste?

Homer and I took different approaches with our first bites. I ate one single chip which reminded me of a taste reminiscent of a fiery Doritos locos taco. Coming in strong and spicy with hint of sour cream and chive thrown in. Homer described his first handful as a melody of flavors coming together in the same way of an Irish nacho platter. A bold chip with a very distinct taste that you really can't find anywhere else. The only issue that Homer and I both found is the more you eat the more the spice outshines the rest of the other flavors and really steals the show, for better or worse. We think perhaps more lime and more tangy flavor could outset the spice, especially on heavier munchies sessions.

Overall its a solid and creative endeavor that is perhaps best enjoyed in short bursts as a light snack. I feel people will either love it or absolutely hate it based on the distinct flavor profile. This chip is tailor made for people seeking a bolder and spicier experience. Although I enjoyed what I tasted and will be checking out these chips again, I still prefer original Cheetos as they will remain my go to for a Cheetos fix. I must say it is great to have something new and unexpected. I welcome this new addition to the Cheetos family. However, I think we'll get more into the old phrase, "If it ain't broken then don't fix it" much more in our next review for the new 3D Doritos.
